Grant Williams - Heart Recipient

I was born with severe congenital heart problems and transposition of my organs and was told I wouldn't live past the age of seven.

Since then I have battled through three major heart operations which ended in heart failure at the age of 28.  4 years later I was desperately fighting for my life.

A heart transplant seemed very unlikely but when the Doctors met my beautiful four day old daughter, it convinced them they had to try.  I waited seven weeks for a heart to become available and after a ten hour operation I received a new heart, thanks to a wonderful generous family donating organs from their loved one.  I enjoyed eight happy, healthy years with a new life, enabling me to set up two successful business ventures.

Unfortunately my health has deteriorated over the last two years and I am now in kidney failure, requiring dialysis.  My hope now is a kidney transplant. I live one day at a time and have a positive attitude that one day I will receive a new kidney, enabling me to fulfil my dream of seeing my two girls grow up.
